Picture Deletion FollowupPosted: 1:20 pm EDT Oct 3, 2006
Well, it's been one month since we started deleting old, un-used pictures, and if you're wondering whether or not it actually helped: It has been an incredible success. The server has been much more responsive, and the database has only locked up once instead of 4-5 times per week like it used to. Thanks to everyone for not complaining too much about this change.

I hate to do this, but....Posted: 7:10 pm EDT Jul 20, 2006
Starting September 1, 2006, we will be automatically deleting pictures that have not been viewed in the last 6 months. There are currently over 155,000 pictures on the PicturePoster which have not been viewed in over 6 months, and they're kinda taking up a lot of space. This should also help speed things up since it will make the PicturePoster database considerably smaller.

If you have pictures that are important to you, please download them to your computer. If your pictures are automatically deleted, feel free to re-upload them again.

Photoshop® File Support AddedPosted: 6:21 pm EDT May 6, 2004
We have added support for files created with Adobe® Photoshop®. It's still kinda in beta, so if you have problems, leave a comment here, and we'll see what we can do. Please make sure that your Photoshop files are saved with the .PSD extension for them to be processed correctly.

Please note that PSD files will be automatically flattened and converted to PNG files.

PicturePoster Problems this MorningPosted: 3:06 pm EDT Apr 20, 2004
As you may have noticed, the AllBrand.nu PicturePoster was experiencing problems for a few hours this morning. Your account was inaccessible due to a problem with our database server and our web server not communicating with each other, and it has been fixed. The cause of the problem is unknown at this time, but measures have been taken to keep it from being down for so long in the event that this particular problem shows up again. No pictures or accounts were lost during the outage.

We are sorry for the inconvenience, and to try to make up for it, we will reset everyone's transfer quota back to zero for the day.

The PicturePoster is not accepting new users...For now.Posted: 7:06 pm EST Apr 1, 2004
Sorry, but this isn't an April Fool's joke. Due to the skyrocketing number of users and account abuse, we are no longer accepting new users at the PicturePoster. We don't plan on closing the PicturePoster, so those of you who have accounts don't need to worry that we won't be providing this service in the future. In fact, we plan on making it better.

It's been more than a year since the PicturePoster opened up, and we've been doubling our bandwidth usage about once every 3 months. That's great, because it means that you guys like using the site, and you're telling more and more people. However, since the site is currently 100% free, we can't keep moving at that rate without making some changes. In the near future, we will hopefully add the ability to invite new users.

We are also looking into the possibility of adding premium accounts that allow a higher bandwidth limit for a small fee.

For those of you who are curious, our first user signed up on Oct 16, 2002, and we are now storing almost 80,000 pictures for about 4,500 users...Not too bad for a site that has had zero advertising.

Feel free to leave a comment to let us know what you think about these changes.

New Features for the PicturePosterPosted: 4:30 pm EST Feb 23, 2004
Just because the PicturePoster is free, doesn't mean it has to be lacking in features. We've been working around the clock to bring new features to the site, and we'll be adding more features in the future.

The most obvious addition should the news page that you're looking at now. It's been added to keep you in touch with what's going on with the PicturePoster.

Next up, we've moved to a new server to increase the speed of the site. Our new server is about 3 times as fast as the old one, but we still have the old server doing database serving so that the site won't get overloaded any time in the near future. We've also done a lot of programming updates to make things faster and more reliable.

We have updated the way that browsers are allowed to cache pictures that are served by the PicturePoster. The end result should allow more people to see your pictures before getting that nasty "over quota" message, especially if you are linking to your pictures from busy messageboards.

The picture comments have been updated to allow you to delete comments that have been posted in your gallery, or to delete comments that you have left in other people's galleries. Note: Comments in red have been deleted, and may be undeleted by clicking the undelete link. Comments in red can only been seen by the person who deleted it.
