Frequently Asked Questions
Account questions Picture and gallery questions Account questions What is the PicturePoster and what can I do with it?The PicturePoster is a site for anyone who needs to store pictures. Use it as a photo gallery for sharing pictures with friends and family. Use it for pictures for your eBay auction. Use it to store pictures for messageboards or your blog. There are tons of ways to use the PicturePoster, so start by registering for an account, and try it out. So how much does this thing cost? The best part about the PicturePoster is that it's free to use. How do you make money?People ask us all the time, "if you don't charge anything then how do you make any money?" The answer is simple: Volume. Will I get spam if I put in my real email address?Absolutely not...Well, not from us, anyway. Our policy is to never use your email address for any unsolicited email. We will not sell your email address to any third-party companies. It is only required so that we have an email address to send your password to in the event that you forget it and to keep one person from setting up lots of accounts. Why can't I have more than one account? The PicturePoster is currently a free service. Because of this, we have to limit how much we give out for that low, low cost of $0. Because each account has bandwidth limitations, setting up an extra account is like doubling your limitations...And we can't allow that if this service is to remain free. Please respect this, and keep it to one account per user. Chances are we'll end up finding out about your extra account and deleting it anyway. It says my account is disabled, but I swear I only have one account! The only reasons we disable accounts are for abuse, because two accounts are way too similar to be a coincidence, or because you logged out of one account and logged into another from the same computer. Letting your friend/wife/brother/dad log into your account will cause this to happen if they have their own account...In other words, don't let other people log in to your account. If you have a valid reason for why this might have happened, you may send an email to disabledaccount@allbrand.nu, but there is no guarantee that your account will be re-enabled. Can I change my username? Not at this time. Can I change my password? You can change your password on the Account Information page. Can I change my email address? You can change your email address on the Account Information page. Please note: Updating your email address will change you back to an unverified user and your transfer quota will be lowered until you re-verify your email address. I forgot my password. Can you send it to me?Visit our password recovery page to have your password sent to your email address. Are there any restrictions on the number of pictures that can be shown each day?The only restriction is the amount of bandwidth that can be used each day. To see how much bandwidth you have used, and other account information, visit the Account Information page. You must be logged in to view your account information. How is my transfer quota calculated? Each time one of your pictures is viewed, the filesize is added to your daily transfer quota. When I try to view my pictures, it says I am over my quota. How can I increase my quota?Picture and gallery questionsIf you have not confirmed your email address, please visit the lost password page to have your confirmation code sent to you. Once you have confirmed your email address, your quota will be increased. What types of files can I upload?Currently, the PicturePoster supports uploading GIF, JPEG (also JPG), BMP, PSD, and PNG files. We do not accept any non-picture files such as MP3s, videos, or text files. How much disk space can I use?Currently, all users have an unlimited amount of disk space to use, however, this is subject to change. Is hotlinking allowed?Hotlinking to your pictures from any site is allowed. In fact, that's what the PicturePoster is here for. How many files can I upload? You can upload as many files as you want, but keep in mind that this is a free service, and try not to abuse it. What is the largest file I can upload?Files must be less than 20 megs each or they will not be accepted. Remember, larger files will use up your daily bandwidth limit much quicker. How long will my pictures remain on the PicturePoster?Barring any unforeseen circumstance, your pictures will remain on the PicturePoster until you delete them unless your pictures are in violation of the Terms of Service. Starting September 1, 2006, we will begin deleting pictures which have not been viewed by anyone for over 6 months. Some of my pictures are missing. Where did they go?Starting September 1, 2006, we will begin deleting pictures which have not been viewed by anyone for over 6 months. How can I upload multiple pictures at one time? You can upload multiple pictures at one time by placing your pictures in a .ZIP file and uploading the .ZIP file. How can I make my gallery private so nobody else can see it?At the top of each folder, there is a link that says "Modify this folder" which allows you to change the folder settings. If you uncheck the "Publicly Listed" checkbox, the folder will not be browseable by anyone else, however, pictures inside the folder can be viewed by using a direct link to the picture. Why don't I see my gallery listed when I click Browse Galleries?Since we have a lot of users, we can't show everyone's gallery in the list. Because of this, the Browse Galleries page shows a random list of 40 public galleries. Your gallery might be in the list sometimes, and not in the list other times. How do I delete pictures? You must be logged in to delete pictures. When you are logged in, each picture in your gallery will have a Delete link below it. Just click the link and confirm that you want to delete the picture. How do I modify my pictures? You must be logged in to modify pictures. When you are logged in, each picture in your gallery will have an Edit link below it. Just click the link and you will be given options to move the picture to a different folder, rename the filename, change the description, unlist, and rotate the image. A user on this site is using one of my copyrighted images. Who do I need to contact to have it removed? If you hold the copyright on an image that is being used on this site, send an email to copyright@allbrand.nu with a link to the image in question. This is not an automated email address, so the image will not be removed immediately. | |||
